Application: Starpals (iOS / Android)
Last updated: 2026-05-15
Starpals is a gamified chore and habit tracker designed for families. Parents set up chores, rewards, and goals; children complete tasks to earn stars, level up a virtual pet, and unlock rewards that the parent approves. The App is built around a two-mode experience: a PIN-protected Parent Mode for administration and a Kid Mode for everyday use by children.
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how TM3P Tech (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use Starpals (the “App”).
2. Information We Collect
Starpals collects only what is needed to run a household’s chore and reward routine:
- Parent account: The parent or guardian’s email address, a salted-hashed password, a salted-hashed Parent Mode PIN, subscription status, and an account creation date.
- Child profiles (created by the parent): A nickname, an emoji avatar, an age, an optional color preference, an optional Kid Mode PIN, and the child’s in-app stars, XP, and virtual pet level. We ask the parent to use first names or nicknames only and not to enter real surnames, contact information, or photos for child profiles.
- Task and reward data: Tasks the parent creates, completion status and streaks for each task, reward definitions, and redemption history.
- Advertising data (Parent Mode only): Where ads are shown, Google AdMob may use device advertising identifiers in accordance with your ATT or ad-personalization choices. Ads are restricted to a family-friendly content rating (G) and are not shown in Kid Mode.
- Diagnostic data: Crash reports and basic device information used to keep the App stable.
We do not collect precise location, contacts, microphone, or photos from child users. Firebase Analytics is disabled in this App.
3. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to: (a) provide, operate, and maintain the App; (b) improve, personalize, and expand the App; (c) understand and analyze how you use the App; (d) detect, prevent, and address technical issues, fraud, or abuse; and (e) communicate with you about the App when necessary.
4. Legal Bases for Processing (EEA/UK Users)
If you are located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we process your information based on one or more of: (i) your consent; (ii) the performance of a contract with you; (iii) compliance with a legal obligation; or (iv) our legitimate interests in operating and improving the App.
5. Sharing of Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with:
- Service providers that help us operate the App, such as cloud hosting, crash reporting, analytics, and push-notification providers. These providers may include Google Firebase, Apple, and similar industry-standard services.
- Platform providers (Apple and Google) to the extent required by their respective app distribution and payment systems.
- Legal and safety recipients, where required to comply with a legal obligation, enforce our Terms, or protect the rights, property, or safety of our users or others.
- Successors, in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to standard confidentiality protections.
6. Third-Party Services
Starpals uses these third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy:
- Google Firebase — Authentication, Cloud Firestore, and Firebase Storage for syncing your family’s data across devices.
- Google AdMob — family-friendly ads (rated G) shown only in Parent Mode and only to non-subscribers.
- Apple App Store and Google Play Billing — subscription processing for Starpals Premium.
- In-App Review SDKs — to occasionally invite a parent to rate the App.
7. Data Retention
We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to provide the App and for the purposes described in this Policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law. Aggregated or de-identified information may be retained indefinitely.
8. Security
We use commercially reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, or alteration. No method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. International Transfers
The App and its service providers may operate from servers located outside your country of residence, including Thailand and the United States. By using the App, you consent to the transfer of your information to these jurisdictions, which may have different data-protection laws than your own.
10. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal information, as well as the right to data portability and to withdraw consent. To exercise these rights, contact us at cto@tm3p.com. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.
11. Children’s Privacy
Starpals is intended to be used by children together with a parent or legal guardian. We follow a children’s-privacy-first approach: the App is configured so that no ads are shown in Kid Mode, analytics tracking is disabled, and we do not collect precise location, contacts, or media from child users. The only information about a child that we store is what the parent enters when creating the child’s profile (nickname, emoji avatar, age, color, optional PIN) plus the child’s in-app progress (stars, XP, pet level, task completions). If you are a parent or guardian and you would like us to review, export, or delete a child’s information, contact us at cto@tm3p.com and we will respond within the time required by applicable law (including COPPA in the United States and the UK Age-Appropriate Design Code).
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be indicated by updating the “Last updated” date and, where required, by additional notice within the App.
13. Contact
